Images from Dachau, 2006. The elasped years could not erase the horrible suffering of those who passed through or died in this camp. Words or simple images could never covnvey the emotions of seeing this place in person. All the prisoner buildings were open for visitors but the guard houses were off limits at the request of survivors as they never wanted us to see from the guards' perspective. The first concentration camp, Dachau was establish in an old gunpowder factory complex in 1933; it was initially known as an "Education Camp."
