Jefferson National Expansion Memorial (Gateway Arch)

The Jefferson National Expansion Memorial includes both the Gateway Arch (and its very interesting museum) and the Old St. Louis Courthouse, a historic edifice erected only about twenty years after the Lewis & Clark expedition and enhanced from time to time over the next hundred years. St. Louis City and County separated in 1876, and the courthouse was used for the city's civil courts until around 1930, when it was abandoned. Today, restored, the Old Court House is the focal point of downtown St Louis.
