Held at Temora Airport, home of the Temora Aviation Museum every second year. Approximately 500km from both Sydney and Melbourne.
Much improved facilities and even better air display this year compared to the two previous events. The grounds have been expanded and spectators no longer coralled into a smallish area with 10,000 other people.
Surprisingly, a little closer to the runway this year, although behind a line of display aircraft. I guess an insurance trade off.
Used the new Sigma 150-600 Sport lens, even bigger than the Bigma which was an airshow lens favourite. I like the results but you really know you have 2.8kg of lens on the end of the body. 600mm on a Canon 7D2 is effectively a 960mm lens, so some effort required to get the best possible results especially when trying to place maximum subject in the frame. But when the gods of photography are smiling, you are too !!
