Primal Colors

(triptych)
I took this photograph on a recent trip to the Big Island of Hawaii. It is a feshly formed leaf of a hanging heliconia ("Lobster Claw", Heliconia rostrata Ruiz & Pav). I decided to render the beautiful striations in the following three tones to bring out the intense vitality of this plant. I used the longer than normal 2:1 proportion to better represent the projected energy I envisioned. The triptych format helps bring out the tones of the three essential periods of the day.
