I’m basically a snapper, cropper, and contrast man.
Reminders and instructions in class are beginning to sink in that I should do more (it helps to not be in a hurry).
Here I color balanced the entire image, selected the fence and toned down the white, dodged his face to lighten it, selected and used curves to make his eyes and teeth whiter, and finally used a layer mask (set at screen) to pick up some highlights in his hair. Some sharpening and a added frame ended the process.
I’m not bragging; just commenting on a few things I am trying to see and learn to do. It helps to have a great subject like Oliver which makes the effort worth the time.
