June 22: Withdrawal

Rancho Bernardo, CA

I assume most of you have a PC running Windows which contains the card game Solitaire which, for me at least, is totally addictive.

Determined to break the vise-like grip this simple card game has on my life, I have deleted the file from my hard disk! Honestly, I miss it, but I’m sticking it out. Geeze, quitting drinking was easier than this!

Canon EOS 5D ,Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
1/60s f/4.0 at 26.0mm iso400 with Flash full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

I can't compute the wasted hours. Don't make me think that hard.

clever PSing, Robin . . . .you poor baby . . .I have one here at home who has the same addiction . . . but he also goes nuts over that minesweeper thing-a-ma-bob. I don't get the addiction (as I clutch my camera to my chest so as not to lose the scent!)

Terrific shot! Good luck with your withdrawal.

@Bob, the "falling" cards were taken seprately with straight flash as they dropped. I then used the motion blur function (plus shadows) in PS to apply that layer onto the bottom layer.

Cool capture Robin is the 2nd curtain sync?

Good work, Robin. Very dreamlike quality.
What will you do with all that spare time?

You're such a game fellow for trying to kick this. Gotta hand it to you. You're the real deal, dude...well, if overlooking the PS edits. ;-)

My addiction is msn gamezone...I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night to play spades. Good luck with your withdrawal, LOL!

Trying to do that to my wife's PC would be like asking for a death wish.

How about getting a laptray and playing solitaire with REAL CARDS. Since my husband retired from the Weather Service/Oil Exploration I'll bet he has played a million games.
royalld23-Jun-2006 02:38
I knew you and I had several things in common.
For similar reasons, I deleted my Solitare files just before my hard-drive crashed last month.
Hmmm.... I hope one had nothing to do with the other.
This is a great image, BTW.
