November 20: A Photoshop Technique

San Diego, CA

Several of you asked for me to share some of my learning from the NAPP seminar I attended Friday. This image is one example that primarily demonstrates the new Vanishing Point found in CS2. The original is below this one

First I copied the base layer and set blend mode to screen in order to lighten the entire image. I reduced opacity of the blend a bit until I liked the degree of lightening that occurred. Then I merged the two layers.

I activated the Vanishing Point tool and blocked out the wall outlined in white on the lower image. I copied this area and moved it to the left. VP is marvelous, because as I moved the copied area of the wall to the left it reduced it to maintain the perspective!

I cut out part of the wall to keep the bus showing, but of course was able to block out the car tail light. Then I merged these two layers.

I added the text, rastorized it, and then used edit/distort to make it have a similar perspective to the wall. All about five minutes work!

Nice application of your training.
I have attended many PhotoShop seminars and pick up a few new trickes each time.
At about $100 a class they are a great way in learn PhotoShop tricks!
Well done.

I'm really going to have to join NAPP someday. I hear you get some sort of credit if I mention your name?
