I’ve been berating myself for some sub par images I’ve posted recently, so today I promised myself I would do a ‘good’ one. So I set up the tripod, took light meter readings, and shot eight frames.

Ironically the one I am picking here was the first shot just to get the focus and frame. I guess I could have taken the glasses off to eliminate the glare, but decided the reflection added depth.

1/8s f/7.1 at 50.0mm iso200 full exif

Very nice shot. I do like the reflection and how crisp the reflection of the room is in it on your left side.

Very nice, relaxed SP! I like the direct eye contact! And the reflection on the glasses works for me. Not a problem at all! Very difficult to take a portrait like this, but this is very natural looking! Well done!

It is hard to do a straight SP -- and you nailed this Robin. If I had to make a little nit, the picture frame is a little tilted, but I suspect that's the tripod/camera angle placement.

@Pepe ... I set it manually. In the case of today's, I put a red pillowa bout where my head would be and set it using that as a focal point. See you tomorrow moring!

Looks like a protrait you could use in a brochure... "the sincere, interested look. Nice to see how the 50mm works as a portrait lens.

In this case I used my Gossen light meter which is both a reflected and incident meter.

In my own opinion the reflection on the glasses is ok. Great lighting. Do you read the light with the camera or do you have a light meter? It is a nice SP, just is that portraying another Robin more serious :-) Great one!!
