August 9: Pikes Peak from the North

Woodland Park, CO

Herb, who is president of get Robin off his derriere club, and others have been urging me to get out and about. So today I drove about 100 miles to the West/Northwest in mostly cloudy weather looking for good mountain scenes.

I did have this one in mind before I left, but I had difficulty finding a good uncluttered spot in the Woodland Park area. However I like this one because it shows the depth/height and note the switchbacks of the highway on the upper right.

There is a lot of construction in the Woodland Park area; no longer is it the quiet mountain retreat. A close up of the Peak can be found **here**.

I'm voting for Herb, lol!
I sure like the difference in growth from the street up to the barron Peak. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with next week.

Don't go giving him any ideas, bandito! No worries, Robin...I have every intention of gettin' you off your duff on the trip. You'll get enough exercise to slack the rest of the month ;-)...we are gonna have soooo much fun!

I'm loving your PP images. They are near and dear to my heart, as you know.

i hope it clears up a bit for us ... sure would be nice to get a great sunrise panorama this Saturday. I hope, I hope, I hope ...

Glad you got off your duff, too. You were gonna run out of things to shoot in your hotel room pretty soon. And I don't wanna see any toilet SPs. OMG! I hope that's not an inspiration for you! LOL! See you in a couple of days, pardner!
