August 3b: Cave of the Winds

Manitou Springs, CO

Okay, okay, I know I didn't take this picture. I took the tour of the Cave.
This location played a monumental role in my life. I worked at the Cave for five years during the middle 1950's. At first I was a guide, then became the guide foreman, and my final two years served as the assistant manger.

My time there was one of learning about **Leadership,** ** teenage crushes,** and an attempt at ** slow suicide!.**

Click on each of the above bold-faced links to learn more. Believe me you will enjoy the stories.

ROBIN, ROBIN! There may be a connection here that we have never made in our years of knowing each other. I visited Cave of the Winds with my parents as a kid (of course you are much older than I) sometime in that time period. I will search my memory file to try to discover whether you might actually have been our guide. Wouldn't that be a stitch?

Very cool to go back home again, Robin. I'll bet you had more than a few moments of deja vu; and I'll bet some things never change with the demenor of the young guides :)
