My friends and I drove to New Mexico today to visit ancient ruins at the Aztec National Monument (no connection to the Aztecs of Mexico). These peoples were connected with the settlements at Mesa Verde and Chaco Canyon, and after these sites were abandoned in range of 1100 to 1300 these indigenous natives moved to locations further south along the Rio Grande River. They are the ancestors of our "modern" pueblo Indians.
More information about these ruins can be found at ***here.***
I'm have many, many images from the past few days, however I lack time and access to upload them before the 4th of July weekend. Also I have been totally derelict about getting around commenting on your images which I will do then also.
In the meantime, thanks for joining me this trip and reading my commentaries.
I also just upload a smaller version of yesterday's Goosenecks of the San Juan image. Many of you said you have trouble getting it to load, so you might try again. It was quite a site!
