My departure from San Diego was delayed by complications at my Lexus dealer. It turned out that they needed two hours to “program” a replacement ignition key. Whatever happened to the old copy the metal key method? LOL.
Anyhow, I blew out of town for Yuma at 3:10 arriving here by 6:30 p.m. after gliding over the four 4000 foot high passes that cross the Laguna Mountains on Interstate 8 before dropping down to sea level and the Imperial Valley. It is a fascinating drive through mountainsides strewn with huge boulders deposited as glacial moraines eons ago. The Valley is a mixture of recently harvested and baled hay combined with huge fields of green vegetables ultimately targeted for grocery stores across the United States.
It was 108 F here in Southern Arizona, but the car stayed cool with the setting sun at my back. After my overnight in Yuma I’ll head into Phoenix for meetings with my clients at the Fire Materials Group.
I’m feeling relaxed and having fun listening to Collins’ “Good to Great” on the car’s CD. After finishing that management book, I’ve got a bio of George Washington on deck.
