June 11: Much Fun (and learning)

Verano Drive, Rancho Bernardo, CA

“They say (whomever they are) that the main purpose of doing a PaD is to learn."

Challenged by our omnipresent “June Gloom” here in SoCal, I determined to do a pano shot of my home. Tripod and fisheye lens in hand, I crossed the street, took my meter readings, and snapped a series of four frames creating a 180 degree vista.

In blending these frames I learned that it is quite difficult to line up fisheye images because of the inherent ‘bend’ the lens creates. Anyhow, I did my thing, lots of nudging and clone stamping in Photoshop, and voila I had my scene.

However, after playing with it, I thought this distorted version was more exciting than any ***straight pano shot.***

So folks, welcome to Verano Drive! ;--)

Looks like the view out of one of those big distorted mirrors! Very interesting shot!

A very unusual panorama. It looks like it was hard work.

I like this one better than the straight shot, it's neat. Sounds like you worked super hard to make it happen.

I guess I need to slow down, next time I am in the neighborhood

Robin, the angle of it isn't too much different from yours from yesterday. I see a big open mouth grin, the trees could be an upside down epiglotis (sp?? and correct word??) and the houses are your teeth. That is one weird lens, and I think I like the effect.

That lens will be able to see around the block.

Man, I love the look of a fisheyed lens. Great Pano!

Nice pano, Robin! Palm trees here in KY don't get nearly that tall...:-) Well done!

There's something fishy about this new lens! I've been there, and this doesn't look familiar at ALL! lol

Whoa, nice effect. However, I wouldn't want to walk on the sloping street. Your place is nice.

Neat image. Like the way it worked.

This one's good for me. I'll have to tackle panoramas again. Thank you for the prompt!
