November 7: PaD Redux

Albertson's Parking Lot

Okay, I really didn’t like my PaD posted earlier. So I decided to post this image taken on my way back from the store tonight. It rained a bit, and there was still some light. I got to try out the kit lens that came with the camera. I never even got out of the car . ;-)

Well Tor, my car was parked right next to a parking lot divider that had flower planted int it. This one was right there, and I just reached out with one hand to move it a bit closer, and shot with the other hand. ;-).

Nice photo. How were you able to get that shot at 55mm without getting out of the car? The 18-55 ef-s-lens is not half bad, but I bought the 17-40 4L in March, and I never put the kit-lens on again.

Well Liza, this is my first (and only) shot with the kit lens. I like the result. I notice that I am so used to carrying around the Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens that I'm a bit spoiled. Image quality is probably similar, but I like to be at a higher zoom. It is clear despite the plastic case that it makes for a useful lightweight walk around lens.
After spending Saturday with the Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM lens I see there is no real substitute for using quality glass. But who's going to haul around a big lens like that all the time?

Nice shot. How do you like the kit lens? Everyone asks me my opinion about it but I don't have one so I have no opinion. So, I would be happy to borrow your opinion for now.

Nice shot, I like the water droplets.

Why are you driving through flower beds? Good shot. You'll enjoy the lens. For $100, it's not bad at all!

Very nice detail and color.

Lovely shot -- and extra points for not even having to get up!

That 18-55 sure doesn't look too bad here! Nice shot.

Quick shots sometimes are the best. Another good one. Have you put the camera down in the past 48 hours :)

What would have really turned my head is if you had never STOPPED the car. Excellent shot either way!
