June 16: On Final

San Diego, CA

Today I received word that my good friend, Warren Hoffman, from the Organizational Network has learned that his illness is inoperable and he is "On Final" for his time here on Earth.

He has always been an incredibly honest, no-nonsense straight from the shoulder friend. I shall deeply miss him. His strengths and gifts as a friend, consultant, web master, husband, and father will live on after him.

Some reflections on the life cycle: As I mature (age), I find that I face more and more losses of friends and colleagues.

I think one lesson they teach us (me) is how to live our lives NOW, and to be fully cognizant that our time here is precious, to use it well, and to fully enjoy being who we are.

So in one clear sense death as a counterpoint to life is a huge gift to those who remain on this earth.

Robin, please give your friend a hug and kiss for me, and one for you also, it is difficult, I have a friend who is older and she has told me almost the exact same words as you wrote here. Life really is short and I honestly do now live it to the fullest I can, even though I am still fairly young, there are no promises in this world. One of my favorite songs is "If Tomorrow Never Comes" by Garth Brooks. Ok, catching up to your pictures, sorry I got behind.

Wonderful thoughts and reflections, Robin. I am sorry about your friend. A favorite uncle from my childhood whom I haven't seen in years (he lives several states away) has been suffering through bout after bout of cancer and I fear he won't be with us much longer either. So I feel your pain.

I want to thank all the people who have expressed their caring and support. Doing this for me is one small way I am trying to deal with the news. Thank you so much, and I have of course shared this page with Warren and his family. - Robin Reid

Robin, you know that we both love and deeply respect Warren, and I thank you for putting this together in his honor. It's about the most constructive way we have of dealing with the grief as we watch this terrible disease, cancer, aggressively devour our friend and colleague too slowly . . .

How sad for you and his family. Obviously he is a cherished friend. And you must be to him also, for being able to share his distressing news.

Touching words.
I often remind my self of the fact that there is no life without death - and there is no death without life.
Tx for sharing this.
