I Have A Dream

Chicago, Ill

Today is momentous for the United States. In 1863 (145 years ago) Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, and in 1963 (45 years ago) Martin Luther King gave his “I Have A Dream Speech.” Today we took another major step forward against discrimination and for the equality promised in the Declaration of Independence.

Regardless of your political leanings I know you take notice and applaud this signal event. Stand up and cheer America! Most of the rest of the world is cheering with us.

Let us all unite behind and support Obama's leadership. We all need to work for a better future for us and for the world

Well Robin, this post ignited quite a bit of imaginary wisdom from some of your visitors. I should not be surprised by the number of negative comments, but I am. If one thinks negative thoughts... they will get negative results. It never fails. I join you and those here who expressed joy and hope for the future... time will tell.

Well, you know what I think. I cannot back a man who believes in partial birth abortions or killing a child if the abortion was botched. I don't care what color his skin is, that is not the issue, the things he stands for are not Biblical and you know me, I'm a Christian and see prophecy unfolding before our eyes. I pray that God continues to Bless this country but believe His hand may have well been removed last night. Our future is to be seen. I'm in full agreement with Graham on this one. Yet, it is not my place to judge a man's heart....only God can do that. We will see what happens next.

Well I woke up to new day in America. I also woke to this which I submit knowing the Democrats passion for freedom of speech. It says all the stuff I know I feel and think, its from a black artist and its worth a listen. http://www.youtube.com/user/machosauceproduction I am amazed that in New Zealand the press there has been part of this whitewash.......xcuse the pun...and all over the world people are dancing. Well I ask. Dancing for what.

Personally I believe we could have continued to battle discrimination in other areas. To have so many vote for a man for no other reason than not to offend his race is wrong.

I consider my individual vote an endorsement, and in good conscience I could not endorse either major candidate in this election. But I will say this about Obama: If he can get black kids back into school to study for productive futures and not rely on drugs or gangs to fuel short term interests; If he can convince black America to give up it's excuse that all their ills are because of injustice that was inflicted on them in the past, And if he can prove that he's more than just a flash in the pan, a social political climber, and unite all and survive the immense challenges that are about to descend on him, Then I'll be convinced. He has a chance. He has an overwhelming majority concress to help him. Unfortunately, history has shown us that this alone isn't enough. He's going to have lead. Only time will tell if he's up to it. As was chanted once before, in 1968, in Grant Park, Chicago: The Whole World is Watching.

I really don't see reason for celebration. It deeply saddens me that a country that was built on the belief of God, commandments and morals would elect a man that represents none of those things. God help America.

Congratulations Robin. May I share some perceptions. Let's see liberalism work now. As an outsider I know I have no place at all to comment.But then again I am sojourning in the land where freedom of speech is meant to be supreme. This election has been an eye opening lesson in media bias, media power, and how the best truths can escape ever being aired. Xcuse the pun. Freedom of speech seems to belong to the press and their bias. Communism failed because any rhetoric or belief systems that invite personal gain from adherents in herently have a chink. Yes religions too! In Shakespeares play Corialanus the crowds that welcomed him triumphant into Rome throwing their hats into the air were the same ones that 3 days later booed and banished him from Rome. The same with Jesus. I have heard heaps of talk from the Obama camp about the middle class. Tickling their ears, their dreams and desires. We can liken them to the proliteriat. The same ones that send their children to die on the battlefield are the victims of political manipulation for the purposes of gaining power. The same crowds as in shakespeare's play. Shakespeares point was the fickleness of the masses. I may not be able to say this kind of stuff on talk back radio soon.......... Over 600 million dollars in campaign funds could have relieved a lot of economic pain for middle class folks. Unashamed media bias. Lots of unanswered questions. I agree America needs a change. I like the ideals that America was birthed on. It has been really interesting to live thru this election. Perhaps I have President Bush to thank for that. Yes it is the dream that discrimination be no barrier....but to my understanding Obama is far from the vision of the founding fathers. I know John Mc Cain has a dream too, and Sarah Palin no less awesome or valid. What I can't understand is the almost hypnotic power of this election and the personalities involved over people. The masses. It is very evident and believe me I talk about it with people where ever I go. I love to talk. I am interested in what and why people think. Something more than a swing has happened here. So majority rules. No let the dream unfold. I don't know if it's Ab Lincolns though. Equality isn't just an issue of colour. Not all dreams come true. I hope for Americas sake this one does.
