I'm glad I found this photo. It confirms that I was indeed seeing this black race of Wattled Jacana in Isla Salamanca on a trip 2/2012. I thought - what strange looking Jacanas here! At the time I had no idea there was such a color phase, nor did anyone on my trip mention it. Apparently this phase is found in Northern Colombia and neighboring Panama.

hola. esta hermosa y gracionsa ave, se conoce en la costa de Colombia como "Chequé", hace años crié una de estas, menuda alarma contra culebras!. saludos
