Who would have ever thought that Burkburnett would be host to "Three Dog Night". And the high school basketball team put us to shame a few years back. Many of my relatives live/lived there providing the most wonderful childhood memories. Walks to Boyd's grocery store, Uncle Pete's Shoe Shop on Main Street, going to the Baptist Church where my brother got saved, and the swimming pool where I met that cute boy who's father owned the milk dairy in the 60's. (Never got a chance to see him again.) Now living in Fort Worth, I go back now and then just to remember who I am.

My Grandfather W.W. Chambers came to Burk from Kentucky, he was a investor in Oil,land Ect. He was a Lawyer but had the good sense not to practice. His home was on "Easy St" which he named(lived on Easy St get it!), 2 of his 3 daughters still live in Burk.My Mom married a dashing "Flyboy" during WWII and wound up in Austin, but I spent many happy summer days of my youth,where these photos were taken visiting relatives and enjoying the small town life of the 50s and 60s. I even played with my cousins at "Bridgetown" and the photos brought back those times in Burk ,thanks for the reminder of days past.

I must admit, I'm a little jealous of this place. The city I live in continues to grow and grow. It's a little tough to find empty sidewalks like that.

You need a picture of the Simon Peter Hawkins house off of Charlotte Rd. There is a Texas Historical marker there.

There is a huge marker in the Northeast corner of the cemetary for the John Hardin family. It contains several blocks that honor the various institutions the Hardin family endowed during their lifetime. Names such as Mary Hardin Baylor College, Hardin College (now Midwestern State University), Buckner Orphans Home, Baylor University, and many others. Photographs of this would enhance your offering of the past of Burkburnett. Thanks for your efforts on behalf of the natives of Burkburnett.
