January 14, 2006 Extra

This is my first PaD upload from Shibumi's laptop computer.
The wireless modem seems to work well.
This is a shot of our neighbor's flag responding to the feisty wind whipping through our canal.

We went to sleep last night under a tornado watch issued by the National Weather Service.
We woke up this morning to 'small craft warnings' with reports of rough seas and gale force wind.
We needed about three seconds to meditate and fast over our 'go/no go' decision.
We will wait for the seas to lay down.

I see. A fair weather sailor. Depending on the direction of the wind, you could put up the spinnaker and really rock and roll. Just kidding. :) That flag is really wrapped around the pole and glad to see you'll be able to communicate while at sea.

Hello Khalid. No, we delayed our departure because of the weather.
The strong winds and rough seas were not completely unmanageable,
but we think it will take four or five days for us to regain our sea-legs.
Since we have no hard and fast agenda, we decided to wait until the wind subsides and the sea lays down some.
Afterall, this tripis supposed to be fun :-)

I take it you already on your voyage. How is it going so far?

The nice thing about retirement is that you can pick and choose what you want to do and when you want to do it. Are you sure you have enough olives?
