Ever since we started planning this trip many friends have asked, “Which way will you go, east or west?”. My answer was, “I don’t know.” Our actual route was neither east nor west. The United Airlines Boeing 777 departed Washington, DC and turned northbound. We flew just east of the North Pole, between the pole and Greenland.
