We changed planes at the International Air Terminal at Dulles Airport in Washington, DC. That was a perfect transition from life in our little town to the larger world. People from all over the world met in the International terminal in Washington DC. The sounds of different languages, the means of dress, and even ways of sitting, reminded us that we were stepping out of our comfort zone and about to enter a country that has an ancient culture we have only experienced in books. We would take nothing for granted.
