I was out yesterday tramping around the countryside looking for the source of a river.!
Something that I disturbed and caught my eye was this young pheasant, she looked healthy enough but for some reason wasn't able to get away from me.
As it happened I had some bread and seed in my pockets so reluctantly left her but wanted to do something.
So returned to the spot today about 17 miles and couldn't believe she was within feet of the same spot, my attempts to throw a coat over her confirmed she was injured in some way, so I eventually grabbed her. She was as quiet as a mouse wrapped in my coat in the back of the car as we drove to the RSPCA animal hospital which UK people will know from the Rolf Harris series, she was admitted and will be checked over, so i'm pleased about that.
58 mile round trip, got soaked, but hey...I just hope she's OK.
