Slate Grave Stone

North Wales

Slate has been quarried in North Wales since the 16th century that we know of.
Large scale production started in 1782 in the Ogwen Valley near Bethesda.
Well worth a visit is The Slate Museum at Llanberris in the shadow of Snowdon.
