Wood Turtle

Glyptemys insculpta

This beautiful little turtle was a lifer for me. We found it at a small park near Harrisburg, PA.
It is listed as a species of concern.
Next to gopher and box turtles it is one of our most terrestrial turtles.
Field marks include the orange color around the head and neck and the rough sculpted carapace.

Hi Ann. A great shot of a wonderful turtle. I have never seen this species but have always been on the lookout for one. All the best, Lew Scharpf

The low angle on this really works well, Ann. BTW, I am spending summer on the East coast, which will be totally different. V
