Carrion Beetle

Nicrophorus orbicollis

Menemsha, Martha's Vineyard, MA

These beetles bury the bodies of small vertebrates. They remove the feathers or fur then fashion the corpse into meatballs which they feed to the larvae.

Where in the heck have you been hanging out, woman? First it was the fungus infected fly and now this. (Even though it is a cool looking beetle).
