Terrific presentation of a sad period in history ... as you know, I was stationed in Germany on 13 August 1961 when the wall went up. We were all sent to our field locations as it was fully expected that the Russians were coming down the Fulda Pass and that World War III was about to begin. Cooler heads prevailed but The Wall remained. Thanks for this gallery, Jean-Luc ... it's impportant that people remember ... and thanks for posting the link to my Berlin gallery (very nice of you to do so), Voted

Jean-Luc ... here's a photo that I don't think you've seen before ... it's Checkpoint Charlie on 8/13/1961 ... the day of the face off of tanks and the day work began on The Wall.
