Mount Rundle - Banff National Park

Upon reaching Banff I turned east and emerged from the high Rockies onto the vast flat plains of Alberta. As I approached Banff I was greeted with this view of the majestic Mount Rundle with clouds hugging its eastern flank. From here I followed the Trans-Canada Highway 1 to Calgary where I stayed with friends for a few days before returning home.

Overall I had covered 5270 kilometres during 42 days through some of the most challenging and dramatic wilderness areas in North America, from Anchorage to Calgary with plenty of detours and a daily average of 128.5 kilometres. This was the longest, toughest and yet most exciting bicycle tour I have undertaken and I will always treasure the memories of my days and experiences in the Far North. Hopefully I will return one day!
