The George Parks Highway was completed in 1971 and is the 540km main route between the state capital Anchorage and Fairbanks in the interior. The highway provides access to the famous Denali National Park and Preserve and Denali State Park.
There are several impressive views of Denali/Mt McKinley from the highway, provided that the weather is clear (which it is often not). On my trip I got two faint glimpses of this massive 6194 m high mountain in the distance but unfortunately not any decent potographs.
