Beginning of Taylor Highway near Tok

The 258 km long Taylor Highway begins at Tetlin Junction on the Alaska Highway and travels nort-east to the small town of Eagle on the Yukon River. It is a narrow winding gravel road with steep hills and the road surface is very poor in some places with washboarding particularly common. This makes it a very difficult road to traverse on bicycle, but it is well worth it.
The Taylow Highway connects to the Top of the World Highway which continues to Dawson City in Yukon Territory. The services are few and far in between and the only real town on the way is Chicken with a permanent population of 25 people.
