Barred spiral NGC1300

NGC 1300 is located 70 million light years away in the constellation Eridanus. It is a barred spiral galaxy with sweeping majestic arms and an curious asymmetry. NGC1300 is similar in size to our own galaxy. It is not known to harbour a central super-massive black hole although many other galaxies do, including our Milky Way.
