Terrestrial orchids

For people new to orchids it is often a great surprise to hear that most of the well known orchids grow in trees.
But when you work with orchids for a while you soon realise that the ones that grow in the ground like ordinary plants are in fact the most intriguing to grow.
Some make an underdeveloped rootsystem so that they need a fungal partner to survive and some make flowers that belong to the most 'high tech' in the plant kingdom.
Many of them are very rarely seen in collections. Mostly because terrestrials are feared or better said mis-understood.

So therefore an album dedicated to them.

This album shows more than 250 species and/or vareties and is build by using a selection of terrestrial orchid photo's from the other albums on my photopage plus many extra pictures of terrestrial orchids that do not fit in the other albums.
