Memecylon elaeagni

Memecylon elaeagni is a shrub from the Melastomataceae family that doesn't show many of the typical characters found in the family. For example the leaves lack the clear venation that makes it normally quite easy to recognize a plant from this family and also the fruit contains just a single or a couple large seeds instead of many tiny seeds. It is an endemic species to the Seychelles that is luckily still quite common.
