Flower spur blunt or notched at the tip always paler than the petals. (Viola riviniana)

This Violet is quite common in a great variety of places. From the calcareous woodlands in the south and the coastal dunes to sandy inland heaths and forest.

It is quite similar to Viola canina but has a generally bigger plant with broader leaves. Also the basal rosette leaves are not seen in Viola canina.
