Valparaiso, Chile

We started with a car tour of Valparaiso, a port city of 500,000 people surrounded by 45 hills.
Valparaiso means ‘Paradise Valley.’ Housing is a mixture of well-maintained and larger homes side by side ‘derelict’ houses.
Many houses are painted in very bright colors, blanket the hills sides and are all very close together.
We then proceeded to the Casablanca area that is famous as wine country.
The landscape reminded us of the Napa and Sonoma Valleys of Northern California.
Our guide had made reservations at the Casas del Bosque winery where we had a delicious lunch
of very fresh salad and empanadas and Sauvignon Blanc Grand Reserve 2013 followed by a wine tour and tasting.
