I have an intermittent project to photograph the different cities within Washington, DC. In addition to the stately monuments and government buildings, the city has its residents, office workers, tourists, demonstrators, and the occasional politician. In that sense it is much like most any largish US city, but it certainly has its own flavor. These images are my interpretation of the other city.
There always seems to be a demonstration near the White House
Colorful demonstrators
Mostly ignored by workers and traffic
More colorful demonstrators
Who are watched from a coffee shop
Convention goers travel in packs and look alike
Tourists travel in packs and look alike
More proof
I guess office workers do the same
Occupy at Freedom Plaza
The other side
I agree with their goals, and it was good theater
Occupy at Freedom Plaza
The other city 200 feet from Freedom Plaza
And this is limo row just across the street
And at the Kennedy Center
Occupy in McPherson Square
It is always interesting in front of the White House
