In the 1980's, Norway replaced its F-104's by F-16's, was was the custom of the time. The RNoAF operated the F-5 from the mid-1960's until halfway the first decade of the 21st century and even now some 30+ years old F-16's are still being used (after upgrade to M-model). They appreciate their hardware in Norway.
