A-10C 79-0148/BD 'Moonbeam McSwine' of 47FS AFRC (part of 917FG) from Barksdale AFB pictured landing at Davis-Monthan AFB. 47PS (Pursuit Squadron) was created on December 1st, 1940. The squadron was credited with shooting down eight Japanese aircraft on 7 December 1941. On October 1st, 1980, the first A-10A Thunderbolt II's were received by the reserve unit, replacing the last A-37B Dragonflies. In 2012, the unit changed from a training squadron to an active squadron under the wings of the Air Force Reserve Command (formerly AFRES).
