No 6 squadron was formed as early as in January 1914, at Farnborough. A unit with a tremendous history and here represented by SEPECAT Jaguar Gr.1A XX962/EK, July 1987. At the time, 6 sqdn was based at Coltishall, where the Jags flew in the Close Air Support (CAS) role. XX962 is dumped at a range now and 6 sdqn soldiers on, with Typhoon FGR.4's from RAF Leuchars.
