Sarawak
Sarawak is one of two Malaysian states on the island of Borneo. It is the largest state in Malaysia with a population of only 2.5 million people and the size that of England. The administrative capital is Kuching, which has a population of 579,900 and Sibu (pop. 254,000)where my wife was born.
Rajang River
The Rajang River, main source of natural produce that feed much of the state's population is located in northwest of Borneo and it originates in the Iran Mountains. The river flows approximately 563 km to the South China Sea, making it the longest river in Malaysia.
Sibu
Sibu is an inland town, and the capital of Sibu District (229.8 square kilometres) in Sibu Division, Sarawak, east Malaysia. It is located at the confluence of the Rajang and Igan Rivers, some 60 kilometres from the ocean and approximately 183.3 kilometres (114 mi) east-north-east of the state capital Kuching.[2] The population is dominated by Chinese especially the Fuzhou as well as indigenous Melanau, Malay, and Iban. The town population (year 2010) is 257,800.
Bintangor
Bintangor is the capital of the Meradong District in Sarikei Division, of Sarawak, East Malaysia situated along the Rejang River. There were express boat services connecting between Bintangor, Sarikei and Sibu town in the 70s and 80s. Now road connections between these towns has become a faster mode of transport. The town is known for its gastronomy, including the "Limau Bintangor" or Bintangor orange and "Bintangor Ganagpua". The old name of Bintangor is Binatang. About 45 minutes from Sibu and its easier now they have a bridge near Sibu.
