Old Big Oak Flat Road

The abandoned,historic Old Big Oak Flat Road is still accessible by foot, though a lot of rock scrambling is involved.
These first photos are from the Yosemite Valley end, more will be added as I hike the trail further.

Answering some questions I missed, I'd rate it a moderate hike with some rock scrambling involved. As for locating the entrance from the valley, look for the V9 marker along Northside Drive, park there and walk back past the downed wood that's usually there. As for how long to the Bridalveil ribbon photo, just around an hour if you aren't in a rush.

How long did it take you to get to the ribbon of Bridal veil shot,and where do you park to get the trail.

The Old Oak Flat road connects to existing roads in the valley near the old CCC Camp Cascades, now a cut wood storage area. There is a locked gate there that indicates the road beyond is closed. There is a reasonably large, undeveloped pullout and parking area there. The approximate location is N 37 43 27 W 119 38 40. You can also come in from near Foresta though I've never done it that way.

Some topo maps show the trace, others do not. Be advised there is a section about 1/10 of a mile wide where you have to ascend (or descend) a boulder field approximately 200 feet or so - this was the big zig zag, a switchback in the original road, which was wiped out by a rock slide in the 1940s.
