Before 1980, most greyhounds were euthanized after their racing careers had ended. People didn’t consider them as pets thinking they were overly active and needing loads of room to run. Thanks to over 150 independent adoption groups across the country educating the public about the breed and their suitability as pets, the retired racer, better known as a 40 mph couch potato, is gaining in popularity as a loving, gentle companion animal. Adopting a retired racing greyhound can be an extremely rewarding experience. If you are interested in learning more, please go to www.GreyhoundRescueRehab.org.
My family has adopted 4 Greys over the past 20 years and they are the most loving dogs I have come across. They are so appreciative of your kindness and love.
