Scientific name: Balearica pavonina (Linnaeus, 1758). Also called: 'Black Crowned Crane'. The bird shown here is the nominate species 'Balearica pavonina pavonina'.
Distribution: Sahel and Sudan savanna region of Africa, from Senegal and Gambia on the Atlantic coast to the upper Nile River basin in Sudan and Ethiopia.
