Harris & Lewis

Harris and Lewis are actually just one island:
Harris, in the south, is separated from the larger Lewis by a range of hills/mountains.
It is the second largest UK island after the main bit of England, Scotland and Wales.
Stornoway in Lewis, is the largest town in the Hebrides with about 8000 inhabitants.

Callanish is probably older than Stonehenge.
Dun Carloway broch dates from about 50 to 400 AD: its purpose is disputed.
Black houses had no chimneys: the smoke dissipated through the peat/heather thatched rooves
and were lived in(both people and their livestock) until only about 50 years ago.
