The lake at the rear of my house is home to a large group of Muscovy ducks.
Herons, Ibis, Storks, Egrets, Coots, and Cormorants often come by for a visit. You can see photos of those birds in (of all places) my "Birds" gallery.
Muscovy ducks are not native to Florida
Males have red fleshy growth around their faces
Their feather coloring varies
Mostly black, white, and browns
This is a young male
Get a load of his feet!
Distinguished Duck
The females are sweet looking
Muscovys outproduce other waterbirds and kind of take over the lakes and ponds.
Adorable ducklings
Mother and babies search for food
The mother is very protective. Notice the irridescence in her feathers
I have seen one of these Moskovey ducks and it is gorgous. There are a mixture of other ducks that are in the lake that he is in. And they treat him as if he is one of them. In fact these ducks are VERY different from each other and yet they seem not to care in fact they seem to rather enjoy it. The Moskovey seems to be the glorious leader. I will not say where I see him aas to protect his harmonious life that he has achieved. I have ALOT of pictures of him and he is a ham for the camera. He loves his picture to be taken.

There are two of these ugly ducks at the lake in a nearby park, I've been wondering what on earth they were, the other ducks don't go near them.

Some of the best pictures, Yes Muscovy ducks are also very mean and will attack if you are face down on the ground as I was as a small child. Thanks Again CAC
