(Town Hall) This was one of the first places I went to research the village where I was living. A
man working there gave me a map. The town hall only fills half of the building, the other half is
a school. I do no know if the school is still in use or not. Later when we were in San Cristóbal,
my host sister and I came across a large two story building. At first we thought it was a factory,
but we found out that it was the new school for the village. The school was called Marques del
Arco. It was an elementary school. After elementary school all of the children from San
Cristóbal must go to school in other villages or in Segovia. There is a playground in front of the
town hall where I interviewed a baby-sitter and the two small children she was caring for.
During the day in San Cristóbal most adults go to work in Segovia. The village is full of
baby-sitters and senior citizens at that time. According to the people I spoke with, the village
has about 2,000 residents, but the growth of the village has been so rapid that I am not sure that
an official count has been taken. According to my host father San Cristóbal was part of
Palezuelos de Eresma until 1999.
