Not even locals in nearby Maku seem to know about this little hidden gem.

Rescued from the rising waters of the Baroon Dam by a joint government and church collaboration, the chapel was rebuilt in a spectacular location.

The chapel is part of the Iran's World Heritage Ensemble of Historic Armenian Churches. See also Saint Thaddeus Church (Qareh Kelisa) and Saint Stephanos Church.

The drive to the chapel itself is just as spectacular, climbing up the steep sides of Maku's gorge, with views of Mt Ararat and Little Ararat only some 50km away.
