The Lagoon Nebula is a giant interstellar cloud in the constellation Sagittarius. It is classified as an emission nebula and as an H II region. It is faintly visible to the unaided eye from mid-northern latitudes from a reasonably dark sky location. IC 4685, 1274 and 1275 Nebulae are about 1.25 deg northeast (left in image) of M8
