In order to visit the lighthouse at Ontanagon MI, the guide took us across private property owned by a company that manufactures inserts for cardboard boxes. Their process requires large amounts of wood chips, which they had stored in hugh mountains with bulldozers constantly moving the contours around to avoid spontaneous combustion. The wood chips are brought in from the forests in semis, which I guess are not dump trucks for economical reasons. They use this mechanisim to lift the semi up so that the wood chips contained in the trailer will dump onto a conveyor belt that then distributes them to the storage mountains. We were told there is always a three month supply of wood chips on hand. WOW!
