You can just barely see the steam from the geyser(s) on top of the mound. They boil and release deposits that run off and cool and build up a mound. This one over a hundred feet tall has buildt up over the years. There are others much older, and much higer (as a matter of fact mano of the mountains in this area of the park were created in this manner
