Por casi un siglo, Sewell fue el principal campamento de El Teniente -la mina subterránea de cobre más grande del mundo-, empresa minera instalada por Braden Copper Company, entre 1905 y 1906. Con su singular forma, paulatinamente se fue transformando en una ciudad de más de 15 mil habitantes. Se encuentra en la Cordillera de los Andes, a 2.200 metros de altura. Hoy es Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad.

For almost a century, Sewell was the main camp of El Teniente -the largest underground copper mine in the world- established by the Braden Copper Company, between 1905 and 1906. With its unique layout, it slowly became a city with over 15 thousand inhabitants. It is located in the Andes, 2.200 meters high. Today is a World Cultural Heritage.
